Saskatchewan currently has 7 operating casinos with an 8th under construction. The Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation (SGC) operates two casino properties, Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw, in partnership with  the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN).  The remainder are run by  the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA), with the Government of Saskatchewan as a stakeholder.  All casinos in the province operate under the regulatory authority and supervision of the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA).  The SGC and SLGA are provincial Crown Corporations.
The Saskatchewan LPA Committee has always been concerned about the excessive lighting surrounding developments such as casinos.  However, new SIGA casinos are planning to implement multiple 4000 watt sky-pointing spotlights to existing and new designs ( tender/specs ) forming a giant light teepee into their design.

Upward-facing high wattage spotlighting, such as those at the
Dakota Dunes Casino south of Saskatoon (shown at right) is completely unacceptable for its light trespass on to adjacent properties.  As well, generating the power to run these lights alone will add an estimated 70,709 kg of CO2 to the atmosphere every year.  Considering these lights are totally unnecessary to the operation of the casino, this is a prime example of total environmental disregard by all partners: SIGA has not responded to numerous requests for discussions, and Saskatchewan Liquor & Gaming says it's not their department.

Changing your incandescent light bulbs over to compact fluorescents seems rather pointless when this one business's advertising sign will pollute more in one week than your house lights will in a lifetime.

No compact fluorescents here...
